Scaled Back

Posted in Community with tags , on October 22, 2009 by Scott Hobbs

For the last few weeks we have been getting back in touch with the important things.  We have stripped away and scaled back many of the comforts and amenities of modern church.  We would like your input.  How has this impacted your worship?  Your relationships?  Do you miss the modern things?  What can we learn and how can we implement it into our everyday lives?

Reply to this post and let us know what you think.  What do we really need?

Been A While

Posted in Community, Events with tags , , on October 4, 2009 by Scott Hobbs

It has been a while since we’ve updated the blog here.  We’ve been in the process of trying to staff all of the needed areas at ethos and catch up on service recording editing from the summer.  We should be back on track here.  It’s going to be an exciting Fall here at Eagle’s Nest.  We’ve been taking a look at being involved and sharing our faith.  We had an awesome week with Ken Johnson (the audio should be up here in a few days).

We’re going to be hearing from some of the other Pastors here in the coming weeks, as well as, Scott Dailey and Chip Reese.  We also are going to have our annual Christmas Program on Dec. 20th.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE HERE NEXT WEEK! I believe that next week will be one of the most intimate and powerful times at ethos that we have had.  Make sure you are here and bring somebody!  Go ahead and ask yourself . . . what do I need?

See ya next week!

Last Week and This Week

Congrats to all of our folks who took the plunge in Baptism this past week!  It was an awesome time to worship our King and celebrate with those who went public with thier faith!  We will be doing that again later this spring, so if you haven’t been Baptized or would like to renew your public committment, make plans!

This week we will be finishing up our “Thirsty” series with a serious challenge.  What does the worshipping church look like?  Heck, what does the church look like?  Even bigger, just what is the church anyway?

DON’T MISS IT!  BRING SOMEBODY!

I Can’t Wait!

I thought I would share my heart and excitement with you guys about this coming year!  ethos has undergone some tremendous growth and change this year and is fulfilling a key part of the mission here at Eagle’s Nest.

This year we are going to pursue God’s presence like never before, fellowship, develop core values in our lives, and be a part of an amazing mission God has laid out for Eagle’s Nest Fellowship.

Who would have thought that Last year would hold so many powerful things as a church?

  • We’ve seen a large number of people come to Christ
  • We’ve seen people healed and restored
  • We’ve seen our Church grow by nearly a hundred people
  • We’ve baptized over 30 people
  • We’ve seen our youth and children’s ministry grow
  • We’ve new faces and talents fill up our Worship Department
  • ethos has grown and taken shape as we’ve moved into the main auditorium
  • We’ve defined our goal of becoming an Authentic Biblical Community
  • We’ve defined our core values
  • We’ve had a huge Easter Production, Camp Meeting involving other Church’s Worship Teams, A Volunteer Banquet, New Song Concert, Training Days, Fellowship Dinners, Nights of Worship, launching of WKNZ, a new Christian Radio station to be opened in the coming months, Chris Sligh Concert, a massive Christmas Program that involved over 40 people and saw people come to faith Christ!
  • We even had a Wii Bowling Tournament
  • All of this is above having 104 worship services (ethos and Sunday morning), small groups, over 20 ministries in house, supporting over 8 missions outside the church, running a Christian school of nearly 500 students, and ministering daily to families in the community through benevolence, counseling, and outreach ~ and I’m sure I am missing some things.

None of this would happen without the move of God and your willingness to be used by Him!  Can you even begin to imaging how much more amazing this year is going to be?  I just can’t wait!

  • Dude, I was tired!  ethos volunteers are the best!  You guys just took care of everything!  Love you guys
  • I tell you, the band gets more amazing everyweek!  I love the worship.  It’s a great time to just abandon yourself and press in to God!  Can you say CD soon please!
  • The Christmas Program is going to be amazing and it’s coming straight to ethos!  Make sure you don’t miss it!  Mark your calendar and bring some folks!  Sunday Night Dec. 21st!
  • BRING SNACKS!  Let’s bless Gail.  She’s been bringing so much food for so long.  Bring your favorite snack to share!  It builds community.
  • We can’t figure out why the small TV keeps cutting off.  Any ideas?
  • Let’s make a commitment to to invite at least one new person or family each before January!
  • Love ya’ll!

Sunday Wrap Up

  • Be sure and be thankful this week – well really every week.
  • The TV’s were just too doggone cool.  We really just have too much fun doing this Jesus thing!
  • I really pray you guys really take time to reflect this week on the static in your life.  What’s your position inwardly and outwardly with the Lord?  What stuff is distracting you from His voice?  What things on the inside do you need to lay down that have been disrupting God’s presence in your life?
  • Come ready to hear this week.  We’re going to talk about hear God and it’s going to be an awesome time.  Be prepared!
  • If you can come out this coming Sunday morning, DO IT!  Our very own ethos band is going to rock the Sunday AM service!
  • Have and awesome Thanksgiving, spend some quality time with those you love, and eat lots of turkey!
